
Karlo Ressler
Croatian Member of the European Parliament and Head of the HDZ/EPP delegation
Karlo Ressler is a Croatian Member of the European Parliament and Head of the HDZ/EPP delegation, serving as the EPP group coordinator in the Committee on Budgets.
Born in 1989 in Zagreb, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb in 2013 as one of the top students of his generation. He spent his final year of studies in Sheffield, UK. Afterwards, he obtained his doctoral degree at the Max Planck Institute for International Criminal Law in Freiburg. He worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zagreb and as an assistant to then Member of the European Parliament Andrej Plenković. In 2016, he became an advisor to the Prime Minister, and in 2019, he led the HDZ list in the European elections, where he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament.
During two terms, he served as Vice President of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP). In the 2019-2024 term of the European Parliament, he served as the Parliament’s chief negotiator for the European budget and as Vice President of the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence. In the current 2024-2029 term, he is serving in the Committees on Budgets (BUDG), Budgetary Control (CONT) and Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs (LIBE), and as Chair of the Delegation to the EU-North Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee. His parliamentary work is focused on budgets, migration and the digital transition.
