
Danielle Harms
Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb
U.S. Embassy Zagreb’s Public Diplomacy Officer and Counselor for Public Affairs Danielle Harms joined the State Department in March 2003 and is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service.
Previous overseas tours include Consular Chief Reykjavik, Iceland; Political Officer Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina; Cultural Affairs Officer Kabul, Afghanistan; and Deputy Public Affairs Officer Stockholm, Sweden.
Domestically, Ms. Harms has served as the Public Diplomacy Desk Officer for 10 countries in Europe; the Senior Israel Desk Officer in the Office of Israeli and Palestinian Affairs; Senior Advisor/Unit Chief covering Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova in the Office of Eastern European Affairs; A-100/SOAR Orientation Coordinator for new hire training at the Foreign Service Institute; and as the Diplomat in Residence for NY Metro (NJ, NY & PA).
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Ms. Harms was an attorney in New York and Washington, D.C. and served as a political advisor on Capitol Hill. She is an honors graduate of both American University’s School of International Service (SIS) and the Washington College of Law (WCL). A proud native of State College, PA, Ms. Harms is a lifelong Penn State fan and is married with two sons.
