Maja Barbalić is a molecular biologist with a passion for human genetics and personalized medicine. After earning her PhD in Zagreb, she spent several years in the U.S., working as a researcher and professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. After returning to Croatia, she co-founded Genom, a company focused on genetic testing and counseling, while also staying active in academia—first at the Medical School in Split and now at the Faculty of Science in Split. With a long track record in international research collaborations and over 90 published papers, Maja is dedicated to making genetics more accessible and impactful in everyday life.
